It was a shitty night last night!

October 1, 2008 at 10:28 pm (Stories, Uncategorized) (, )

I had a very long day yesterday. It started with a workshop in another campus, then lecture, some business outside school that had to be done, yoga class. And after all of that, my friend and I had to go for a doctor’s visit. It was about 9:30pm that we left the doctor’s office and headed to the bus stop. That’s when it happened.

We were chatting and laughing while checking the bus schedule. I took one step back when I felt that I am stepping on something. I thought it was a piece of garbage or something. I looked back and BANG! It was right there…. . It was POOP! Not dog poop. Human poop people! Human poop. And lots of it. Right on the side walk. No toilet sign, no warning sign. Just plenty of shit!!!!!

What now? You are disgusted? Welcome to my world. Although I didn’t really step on the thing, I just touched it with my shoe, I couldn’t stop rubbing my shoe on the ground. I couldn’t stop swearing at whoever did this. It was so gross.

Well, I understand that I wasn’t in city’s best neighborhood. I didn’t expect flowers under my feet or anything like that. I expected to see needles, even used condoms. But HUMAN STOOL!! No way.

Since last night my shoe is in quarantine, waiting to be washed (although there is nothing on it!). And I am wondering… what are people thinking? That it’s OK to just pull their pants down and do their business anytime they feel like it? That it’s their right as a free human being to shit on the sidewalk? What about my rights? How about some manners? How about some respect? It’s as disappointing as it’s disgusting.

Hug chain

August 1, 2008 at 11:05 am (Stories) (, , , )

The other day, my husband and I were coming back home from school. We were getting off the skytrain when we saw a boy and a girl hugging each other in the platform. They were holding each other, patting on each others back and shoulder, and just hugging.

We walked down the stairs and exited the station. Right outside the station, we saw another couple, in the same position, hugging. Just holding each other in their arms.

My husband and I looked at each other puzzled. He asked:” What is going on? Why is everybody hugging?”

Then he said:” Let’s hug!”. And we hugged each other, for a few moments. And it felt really good.

*****************************************

Later, I was thinking to myself:” What if there was a hidden camera somewhere, capturing people’s reactions to this?”

And we would be the idiots who follow other people and do whatever others do. Funny, ha? I can hear the sound of laughter, when they show that on TV.

Why are you laughing? Are you watching us on YouTube?

Shopping at Zara

July 9, 2008 at 2:24 pm (Stories) (, , , , , )

You know that I was bored and tired. So I had a trip to the mall, trying to make myself feel better. And almost all the stores had a sale. Heaven!

Anyways, I found a pair of pants in Tommy. Very light and summery! Which of course I bought. The only problem with the pants is that they are slightly loose in the waist, so I have to wear a belt with them.

Later in my shopping trip, I reached Zara, which had a sale too. I was looking around when I found this gorgeous belt that went very well with my new pants. It was perfect. But there was no price tag or anything attached to the belt. So I asked one of the staff about it. She talked to the girl behind the counter who seemed to know more. Then she came back and told me that they think the belt was part of a dress or a pair of pants that was left behind. They told me that because there was no tag on it, they couldn’t scan and sell it.

And then they said:” You can take it if you want it.”

I was surprized. “What? Take it? Just like that?”

They said :”Aha, ya, yes, sure!!”

So here I was, with the perfect belt in my hand, for free, and I couldn’t make up my mind. I was thinking:” Is it the right thing to do? Is it their decision to give away the belt?”

I walked around the store for about 10 minutes, pretending to be looking for a cloth. But all I was thinking about was the belt.

At the end, I called my husband :”Honey, they are offering me a free belt in Zara that is perfect with my new pants. Do you think I should take it?”

“Of course. If they are giving it to you, why not?”

So, I had the approval of the authorities and I went for it. I took the belt and immidiately went out of the store., with the belt hanging in my hand.

Oh, my goodness! It felt so much like I was shoplifting.

And how good it looks on my new pants.

And why do I think that something bad is going to happen to me today, because I am wearing the perfect belt that I didn’t pay for?

A skytrain story

June 13, 2008 at 3:27 pm (Stories) (, , , , )

I was sitting in the skytrain one day, traveling from home to school, as I do everyday. In some of the compartments, the seats are put in a way that the seats on the left face the front of the train and the seats on the right face the other way. So I could see a girl sitting on the other side, wearing a gray tank top. She was young, about 25, with long straight hair.

At one of the stations, a man got on the train and sat next to her. The man was old, in his 60’s or 70’s, and tall, certainly taller than the girl. He took a quick look at the girl beside him, and suddenly he was interested!!! At first I didn’t realize what was going on. But then I found out that he was looking at the girls cleavage from above (remember that he was much taller than her), and he liked what he was seeing!! I mean really liked! Every few seconds he would turn around and look at the area for a moment or two and turn back and sit straight. He didn’t want to make it obvious what he was doing.

Well, I didn’t want to say this, but it’s important for the story. He was an old respectable Sikh man with turban and everything. (And I am just mentioning that to complete the scene. No offense to anybody!) So now you can imagine the scene that was in front of me.

He kept doing that during the whole ride. The poor girl tried to cover herself with her hair and her arms, but she couldn’t do much because of his viewpoint. It was outrageous and hilarious at the same time. On one hand, I wanted to go to the girl and say:” Hey, I know you can’t believe what is happening here, but you don’t have to take it any more. Get up from that seat and go sit somewhere else.” On the other hand, it was very entertaining to watch the old man trying to enjoy the opportunity, and saving his dignity at the same time.
We all got off the train. THE END.

It’s a silly way to end the story, I know. But that’s all that happened. It would have been more interesting if the man had asked her out, or the girl had slapped him in the face, or if a total stranger (me) had interfered and got yelled at by both of them! But none of these really happened.

I was just interested in the curious nature of some men, even in their 70’s!!
